Petanque Corner

The Club Committee (May 2017) offers the following guidance with respect to petanque play.

The Petanque pitch is available to members and guests of Braid Bowling Club. The Club Committee encourages its members to enjoy the social and competitive aspects of the game.
Importantly, however, our members should be aware that it is not practical to play petanque when certain bowling competitions are being played on the green. Good examples would be during any league or representative games.
Petanque play may be possible when internal competitions are in play. However, consideration must be given to bowlers at all times, with their approval sought if petanque play is intended.
Finally, when bounce games are in progress, there are no restrictions on petanque play.

Notes from David McGill June 2015

The key to the old bowl-house next to the boule pitch (on the south-west corner of the bowling green) now hangs on a hook on the club notice-board. Tennis Club members now have their own key and are free to use the old bowl-house whilst waiting to play, to make themselves a cup of tea, or simply to shelter. The boules themselves are inside the old bowl-house along with a copy of the rules. When you have finished playing and no-one is waiting to play after you, please return the key to the hook. Enjoy
